Evolution of gravitational waves through the cosmological QCD transition

چکیده

The spectrum of gravitational waves that have been produced in inflation is modified during cosmological transitions. Large drops in the number of relativistic particles, like during the QCD transition or at ee annihilation, lead to steps in the spectrum of gravitational waves. We calculate the transfer function for the differential energy density of gravitational waves for a first-order and for a crossover QCD transition.

Distortions of the Harrison-Zel’dovich spectrum from the QCD transition

We investigate the effect of the cosmological QCD transition on the evolution of primordial density perturbations. If the phase transition is first order, the sound speed vanishes during the transition and density perturbations fall freely. The Harrison-Zel’dovich spectrum of density fluctuations develops large peaks on scales below the Hubble radius at the transition. These peaks above the pri...

Cosmological and astrophysical aspects of finite-density QCD

In the early universe, at high temperatures and almost vanishing chemical potential, we expect from asymptotic freedom that quarks and gluons are deconfined in a quark-gluon plasma (QGP). As the universe cools by expansion, a transition to the confined phase, a hadron gas (HG), occurs at T⋆ ∼ ΛQCD. Lattice QCD at vanishing chemical potential provides important insight into the nature of the cos...

Evolution of gravitational waves in the high-energy regime of brane-world cosmology

We discuss the cosmological evolution of gravitational waves (GWs) after inflation in a brane-world cosmology embedded in five-dimensional anti-de Sitter (AdS5) bulk spacetime. In a brane-world scenario, the evolution of GWs is affected by the non-standard cosmological expansion and the excitation of the Kaluza-Klein modes (KK-modes), which are significant in the high-energy regime of the unive...
